Knit the Rainbow, Inc.
Knit the Rainbow (KtR) is a nonprofit whose primary mission is to provide warmth, love, and compassion to houseless and at-risk LGBTQ+ youth in NYC. Our primary program consists of collecting and distributing thousands of handmade knit and crochet winter garments to 17 partner organizations in the NYC area. We also use community spaces to teach knit and crochet classes to the youth we serve through our community outreach program. We hope to get a space eventually where we can house additional community events, a free store, and teach additional fiber art disciplines. We currently do all of our events out of donated community event space or out of our Founders apartment.
